inMadge’s “Living for Love” video (you missed it because it was released exclusively on Snapchat yesterday and has since disappeared) features an embellished nude bustier by the designer worn for most of the dance sequences. The piece is a masculine-feminine mix of corsetry and a tuxedo-like top—it’s the sort of tight, sexy, gender-bending thing we’ve come to expect from the Queen of Pop. (The Minotaur-horned, nearly nude male dancers who thrust around her, too, are sort of a Madonna signature.) For Zeineldine, it was a career first. “I’m a longtime, big fan of her,” he told Style.com. “She’s everything for me.” After Madonna and her team sent a brief of matador references (presumably including Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring collection), he was given free rein to design. “I tried to do something matador-inspired but with a touch of femininity, something more delicate,” Zeineldine said. “I used many kinds of lace and [decided on the] nude color for the lining to show her sexy body.”

inThe 30th edition of the International Festival of Fashion and Photography at Hyères is coming together. The festival, which will take place in April of this year, announced its finalists after a jury meeting at the end of last month. Out of over 700 entries, only 10 fashion designers and 10 photographers made the cut.
Interestingly enough, the most-represented country is Germany, who took over the womenswear category (three out of seven designers). Finland and France came second overall, while Taiwan and India remain as the only two non-Western countries from the entire list.

It’s hard to imagine a world without cereal. Like so many of you, I grew up eating it almost every day. I discovered that many of the most popular cereals in America, like Rice Krispies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, contain the chemical Butylated Hydroxytoluene, otherwise known as “BHT”.
Companies like Kellogg’s and General Mills do not use this ingredient in cereals in other countries.
They took BHT out of cereals completely, and replaced it with safer alternatives in Europe – but continue to sell cereals with BHT here in North America.

inBloggers can seriously influence the way industries think — in fashion and beyond. It’s not for nothing that famous brands, big and small, enlist the services of these bloggers like crazy. These trendspotters, on top of the latest innovations, can ramp up sales of some brands and make others better-known.
In the universe of African fashion, this phenomenon is equally well-known — but it goes beyond direct influence on transactions and sales. We must be equally aware of the influence that is not as palpable and material: bloggers are able to make their interests the flavor of the day, resulting in a globalization and democratization of African fashion (via the trend of wax print fabric).
